Session Description:

Incident Management Teams (IMT) play an essential role in the management of, and response to, local/regional/national emergencies, natural disasters and public events. Fielding an IMT is more than just classroom training. Building a team starts with buy-in from stakeholders, discussion of potential legal issues, cost-sharing measures, day-to-day administration of the team, and continues with development and sustainment of team assets. The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the necessary communication skills, development of clear policies, recruitment of professional team members and effective training that are necessary for the successful development of highly reliable incident management teams.
