Session Name: Public Education/Media~~How to Ensure the Media Tells Your Story and Using “Brand Journalism” to Promote Your Message
The purpose of this session is to provide emergency management and other communicators the purpose and benefits of a “brand journalism” approach to promoting your message. Brand journalism is simply journalism-style storytelling on behalf of a company, where marketers must accomplish the same goal: earn and keep an audience’s attention. Brand journalists must collect and edit stories about a company or organization and present them to the company’s audience through a variety of media. This training session will include news operation professionals (editors, news directors, special project producers) taking the audience through a systematic process of how their newsrooms prepare for hurricane seasons. Topics will include how they generate impactful story ideas, pre-storm plan of action approach and hurricane specials.
