Thursday Schedule Detail

Session Name: Insurance~~National Flood Insurance Program: What’s Changed and What it Means for Communities and Consumers
Session Description:

In reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program, Congress was attempting to move toward risk-based premiums. The changes are intended to encourage increasing numbers of participants in the NFIP, a necessity demonstrated with the flood events of 2017. This session will review what’s changed, what remains the same and what coastal communities can expect to unfold as the increasing frequency and costs of flood risks are addressed. The session will provide clarifications made in NFIP legislation to encourage competition among private insurers to offer consumers private flood insurance options. It will also review the lessons of 2017’s flood events.

Day of Week: Thursday
Time Start: 1:30PM
