Thursday Schedule Detail
Session Name: Mitigation~~Mitigation Success Stories from Louisiana: Severe Storms; Flooding and Hurricane Matthew
In the wake of disasters, communities often wonder whether there are ways to protect people and property from such devastating losses. Mitigation is the way to provide that protection. Hazard mitigation can be defined as taking actions to reduce or prevent future damages, preferable before a disaster strikes. This workshop will review mitigation success stories from both the severe flooding event in Louisiana in August and Hurricane Matthew along the East Coast in October.
