Session Name: Meteorology/Hydrology~~How Does NHC Issue Track and Intensity Forecasts and Warnings for Tropical Cyclones?
Session Description:

This workshop will illustrate how NHC uses track and intensity guidance to predict the path and strength of tropical cyclones, and how it uses the forecast information to determine the placement of tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings for the United States. NHC also has international responsibilities through the World Meteorological Organization to provide forecast information and coordinate tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings with national meteorological services throughout the Caribbean and Central America. This role and interactions and successes will be described. Lastly, a presentation discussing the National Weather Service hazard simplification effort and it relates to the tropical cyclone program will be discussed.
