Session Name: Meteorology/Hydrology~~NWS Storm Surge Products
Session Description:

This session will discuss how NHC storm surge forecasts are made and describe the new real-time storm surge products that are available during hurricane threats in the United States. The session will include a look at the now operational Potential Storm Surge Flooding map, and provide examples of how the map and data can assist in emergency management decision making. The new National Weather Service storm surge watch and warning that is expected to become operational in 2017 will also be discussed. First impressions of the prototype storm surge watches and warnings that were issued during hurricanes Hermine and Matthew will be shared.
