Session Name: Atlantic Basin Seasonal Hurricane Prediction and the Outlook for the 2017 Season – Encore
Session Description:

Colorado State University’s (CSU) latest forecast for the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season will be discussed in detail. An update on the current and projected trends in both El Nino and Atlantic sea surface temperatures will be presented. The 2016 hurricane seasonal forecast will be reviewed. Landfall probabilities for the United States and the Caribbean will be presented. New forecast innovations will be described such as the two- week forecasts for the Atlantic basin. The causes of observed multi-decadal variability in Atlantic basin hurricane activity will also be examined, including a discussion of whether we have moved out of the recent active Atlantic hurricane era.
