Session Description:

Spend your day learning about Hurricane Katrina’s impacts on the Crescent City including a tour of the City’s Emergency Operations Center and Q & A with the city’s emergency preparedness staff; a tour of the to see examples of the City’s new Evacuteer sites – an outreach program that highlights specific pickup locations around town where residents should go during a hurricane evacuation; learn about Army Corps of Engineers’ new flood protection system by visiting a pumping station that is designed to prevent a repeat of the flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina; and tour the WVUE TV studios to learn how Katrina impacted the station and the steps they have taken to be prepared for the next hurricane.
